Open Bite
Open bite typically occurs when the back teeth make contact during biting, but the front teeth do not. This issue results from the teeth flaring outward and causes separation between the upper and lower front teeth.

Causes of Open Bite
There are four common causes that can lead to open bite: thumb or pacifier sucking, skeletal issues, tongue thrusting, and TMJ/TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder). Orthodontic treatment is considered the most appropriate solution to effectively address these concerns.
Side Effects of Open Bite
The negative consequences of open bite are generally not health-related, as this condition does not prevent proper oral hygiene practices. Primarily, open bite can lead to speech difficulties, chewing difficulties, and reduced self-confidence regarding one's smile. In some cases, there may also be additional tooth wear on the back teeth.
