CROSSBITE
When your dental arches are not properly aligned, it results in a crossbite where your teeth come together at an angle. In posterior crossbite, the upper back teeth are positioned inside the lower back dental arch. On the other hand, anterior crossbite occurs when one or more upper front teeth are positioned behind the lower front teeth, which should not be confused with an underbite. Crossbite can affect a single tooth or multiple teeth.
Causes of Crossbite
Crossbite problems can result from genetic factors, irregular eruption of adult teeth, delayed loss of baby teeth, or habits such as thumb sucking and tongue thrusting.
Side Effects of Crossbite
If you have a crossbite, it is very important to receive treatment as it can lead to imbalance in jaw development, enamel wear in specific areas, and complete misalignment of your jaw to either side.
